Infrared Medical Technology was formed November 2015 to bring our flagship product ThermoWand® to market after a successful Kickstarter campaign. The product is a revolutionary development in temperature reading utilizing a video system that allows the user to stay outside the contagious zone (2-3 feet around a patient) and obtain a medically accurate reading of the patient’s temperature. This makes temperature taking safe for health care workers. We are also making temperature taking smarter by collecting temperature data in a global database, allowing health care specialists to detect local and worldwide trends using our Temperature Database Access Plan (TDAP). In addition, temperatures taken with ThermoWand® can be sent to a patient’s Emergency Medical Records. Software will have the ability of being updated remotely.
IMT has applied for patent protected rights to cutting edge, remote, smart thermometer technology that solves many of the problems that have confounded all the device manufacturers stalling any new development in this industry for years. We are bringing new capabilities and applications to an old technology. Doctors will be utilizing our device to explore new realms they’ve never considered before using infrared technology and temperature as a diagnostic tool.
ThermoWand® is a cutting edge thermometer meant for use in a healthcare environment.
While the competition in the thermometer industry is diverse and plentiful, the maximum distance that our competition can take a temperature is 6 inches from the target patient. ThermoWand® can take temperature from 3 feet plus arms length away. ThermoWand® has a safety advantage that no competitor has, giving ThermoWand® an advantage in the field. In addition, ThermoWand® is as quick and accurate as our competition.
It is important to note that there are non-medical thermometers that claim to take temperatures from a distance. Medical grade thermometers must be ±0.1
°C, and non-medical grade thermometers have an accuracy of ±1.0 °C (at best). In addition, the non- medical thermometer’s target area increases drastically as distance increases. Non-medical thermometers also do not account for skin color (a factor when determining temperature).
Every temperature collected will be stored in the 1st of its kind Temperature Database. The data can be accessed and visually displayed using our The Temperature Data Access Plan (TDAP) through web and mobile applications. No temperature database exists that we are aware of.
ThermoWand® II will be a lower price version for home use. The competition for ThermoWand® II are all medical grade thermometers targeting home use.
In addition to our flagship product, IMT will be exploring a pipeline of products relating to distance temperature reading (video cameras, bedside monitoring, etc.).
Our initial target market for ThermoWand® are health care providers. There are 3.25 million doctors and nurses in the United States. This will be done with direct-to-consumer sales and using resellers.
Once ThermoWand® is established, we will offer a less expensive version for household use. This unit will be priced to compete in the retail pharmacy market.
Our Temperature Database Access Plan (TDAP) will initially only be available for ThermoWand® owners. In year 3, it will be rolled out to the general public.
